Features & Applications
BT-883 is a derivative produced from high-quality natural bentonite (primarily composed of montmorillonite) through extensive purification, modification, and organic treatment with quaternary ammonium salts. As an improved organic bentonite product, it exhibits excellent thickening and rheological properties in solvent-based systems. Compared to traditional organic bentonite products, BT-883 features a lighter color, higher transparency, finer colloidal fineness, and certain self-activating dispersion capabilities.
As a thickening and rheological agent, BT-883 organobentonite can disperse and dissolve in organic solvents and resin systems, rapidly increasing the viscosity of the system while imparting thixotropic behavior. To enhance its dispersibility and thickening performance, BT-883 requires high-shear dispersion conditions and the addition of polar activators (such as 95% ethanol or 95% acetone), each added at 33% of the BT-883 dosage.
The product can be incorporated using either the pre-gel addition method or the direct dry powder addition method. The recommended dosage of BT-883 ranges from 0.2% to 2.0% of the total system, which customers can determine through testing. It is suitable for applications in coatings, inks, sealants, adhesives, pigment pastes, lubricating greases, cosmetics, polymer composites, and oilfield drilling.
Packaging & Storage:
Packaged in double-layer bags with an outer kraft paper bag and an inner polyethylene film bag, or in valve paper bags. The weight is typically 25±0.25kg or as per customer requirements.
When stored under dry conditions at temperatures between 0°C and 30°C, the shelf life is 24 months.
