Features & Applications
BT-875 Organobentonite is a novel type of organic clay, characterized by easy dispersion and dust-free handling. It is suitable for low-, medium-, and high-polarity systems and can be dispersed without the need for activators or high-speed shearing. This product offers excellent anti-sagging and anti-runoff properties, and demonstrates easy dispersion with ideal thickening and rheological performance, particularly in styrene and alcohol-containing solvents.
It is applicable as a thickening and rheological agent in solvent-based coatings and sealants, as a thixotropic agent in casting resins, thick-coat resins, and oil-based drilling fluids. It is especially more suitable than fumed silica in unsaturated polyester and epoxy resin systems, significantly reducing costs while enhancing thixotropic effects.
The product can be added directly at any stage of production without requiring activators, and disperses at speeds above 400 rpm. It can also be premixed into a pre-gel in solvents such as styrene, xylene, 200# solvent oil, or other solvents or solvent blends before addition. The recommended dosage for general coatings is 0.2-0.6%, while for specialized applications such as hand-laid unsaturated resins, the dosage ranges from 0.5-1.5%.
