Features & Applications

BT-182 is an organically modified bentonite produced through a special process, featuring exceptional dispersibility and high thixotropy. It is suitable for use in low-, medium-, and high-polarity systems. In medium- and high-polarity systems, no activator is required, and it can be dispersed with rapid shear. For low-polarity systems, a small amount of activator is recommended to achieve optimal dispersion. In suitable systems, the dispersion fineness can reach below 5 µm, providing excellent thixotropic and anti-sag properties.

The product can be added directly at any stage of production. After complete addition, depending on the polarity of the solvent system, 20%–30% of the organoclay weight may be added as an activator (or omitted if not required), followed by high-speed or grinding dispersion. The typical dosage in general coatings is 0.2%–1.5%. It is applicable as a thickening and thixotropic agent in epoxy paints, anti-corrosion coatings, high-temperature lubricating greases, wood finishes, high-grade paints, inks, and similar products.
