Features & Applications
BEZ-300 organic bentonite is a new type of organic clay characterized by easy dispersion and dust‑free handling. The product is suitable for low‑, medium‑, and high‑polarity systems and requires no activator or high‑speed shear for dispersion. It offers excellent anti‑sag and anti‑drainage properties, disperses readily especially in styrene and alcohol‑containing solvents, and delivers ideal thickening and rheological performance.
It is used as a thickening/rheology modifier in solvent‑based coatings and sealants, and as a thixotropic agent in casting resins, high‑build coatings, and oil‑based drilling fluids. Particularly in unsaturated polyester and epoxy resin systems, it outperforms fumed silica by providing higher cost‑effectiveness and enhanced thixotropic performance.
The product can be added directly at any stage of production without the need for activators; a dispersion speed above 400 rpm is sufficient. It can also be pre‑gelled in solvents such as styrene, xylene, 200# solvent naphtha, or other solvents or solvent blends before incorporation.
The typical dosage in general coatings is 0.2‑0.6% (based on total weight). For special applications such as hand‑lay‑up unsaturated polyester resins, the recommended dosage ranges from 1% to 6%.
